Mallory Kelsey of the Snow College softball team has been named the Scenic West Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week, the Conference announced Monday.
Â
Kelsey helped the Badgers collect two victories at the Lander Jamboree last weekend in Texas. Snow College earned a pair of wins against Alvin Community College to wrap up the non-conference schedule.
Â
Kelsey, a freshman from Kimberly, Idaho, appeared in two games over the weekend, including one start. She pitched 6.0 innings while allowing four earned runs in a start against No. 9 McLennan Community College during day two of the tournament.
Â
She followed that up with a relief appearance against Alvin during the final game of the tournament. She pitched 5.0 innings while surrendering just one unearned run on six hits. She also struck out four batters and did not allow a walk to secure her first win of the season.
Â
Over the course of the season, Kelsy has appeared in four games for the Badgers. She has pitched to a 5.36 ERA and a 1.85 WHIP. She has pitched 15.2 innings while allowing 12 earned runs and striking out eight batters.
Â
Kelsey will look to help the Badgers get off to a strong start to conference play as they head to the Gem State to take on North Idaho College Friday in Coeur d'Alene. Game one of the series will start at 2:00 p.m MST, while Saturday's doubleheader begins at 1:00 p.m. MST. For video streaming and live stats information, visit snowbadgers.com.
