Sara Aoki of the Snow College women's basketball team has been named the Scenic West Athletic Conference Player of the Week, the Conference announced Monday.
 
Aoki played an important role in the Badgers' collecting two victories against North Idaho College and No. 6 College of Southern Idaho last weekend to conclude the regular season. With the wins, Snow College punched its ticket to the Region 18 Tournament for the second consecutive season.
 
After scoring 10 points and grabbing three rebounds in the Badgers' 71-52 victory against NIC, Aoki recorded a game-high 26 points on 10-13 shooting while adding four rebounds, three assists, and four steals in a 78-68 win against No. 6 CSI.
 
Aoki, a freshman from Sapporo, Japan, has played in all 30 games for the Badgers and is averaging 9.2 points and 1.6 steals per game – both of which are second best on the team. She has scored in double figures in 12 games throughout the season.
 
Over her last six games, she is averaging 14.2 points on 55 percent shooting from the field and 50 percent from beyond the arc. She has also gone 13-14 from the free-throw line during that stretch.
 
Aoki will look to help the Badgers return to the Region 18 Championship as they rematch against CSI in the first round of the tournament Thursday, March 12, in Twin Falls. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. inside CSI Gymnasium. For video streaming and live stats information, visit snowbadgers.com.
