Snow College Names Michael Shreeve as Women's Basketball Head Coach

Snow College has named Michael Shreeve as the new head coach of the women's basketball team, which was announced Friday. Shreeve will take over the program and prepare for the 2026-27 season immediately.

Shreeve comes to Snow College after spending the previous four seasons at Utah Valley University. He has served as the assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the Wolverines since 2022. He served on the staff that led the Wolverines to their winningest season in program history, as they went 19-13 in 2024-25.

After winning its first game of the Western Athletic Conference tournament, the Wolverines suffered a loss in the semifinal game. Subsequently, they were invited to the Women's National Invitational Tournament, where they earned their first postseason victory in program history – a 70-64 win over Air Force Academy.

While at UVU, he helped develop an All-WAC 2nd-Team, All-Defensive Team, and All-Freshman Team selection (Cambree Blackham), the Co-Sixth Player of the Year (Kylee Mabry), and an All-Defensive Team selection (Tahlia White).

During the 2025-26 season, he helped the Wolverines become the WAC's top defensive team. They ranked third in the nation in steals per game, fourth in turnovers forced per game, and seventh in turnover margin.

Before his time at UVU, Shreeve served as the film coordinator at Rice University for one season, following three years at Brigham Young University, where he was the graduate assistant coach and interim director of basketball operations. He helped the Cougars reach the second round of the NCAA National Tournament twice.

Throughout his coaching career, Shreeve has coached one team to a conference tournament championship, two to conference tournament championship appearances, two to NCAA Tournament appearances, and coached 10 players who have signed professional contracts.

Shreeve graduated from BYU with a bachelor's degree in psychology in 2018. He then proceeded to earn a master's degree in mass communications from BYU in 2021. Shreeve prepped at Kuna High School in Kuna, Idaho, where he graduated in 2011.

Shreeve will take over for Zu Grinsell, who led the team over the previous six seasons. During her time, she compiled a 98-76 overall record and a 47-44 mark within conference play.

"We're so grateful for everything Coach Grinsell did for this program over the past six years," Athletic Director Karen Johnson said. "We are looking forward to what Michael can do for our team and are excited to usher in a new era of Snow College women's basketball."

Shreeve said he looks forward to coaching at Snow College because of the program's commitment to excellence and player development, where student-athletes can thrive both on and off the court.

"Snow College women's basketball will be built on four pillars – authenticity, loyalty, gratitude, and toughness," Shreeve said. "I am honored to lead this program and look forward to building something our players, alumni, and community can be proud of."
