The Lady Badgers Fall Short to Salt Lake Community College

Box Score The Lady Badger basketball team (3-8 in the Scenic West Athletic Conference) was back in action this past Saturday as they traveled to Salt Lake Community College to play the No. 21 nationally ranked Bruins (6-5). The Ladies fell short 56-48.

Sophomore guard Becca Rees had a great game scoring 15 points, grabbing six rebounds, dishing out five assists, and shooting 4-4 from the free-throw line.

“The game was a hard fought and we played well overall,” says Rees. “Our defense kept us in the game and we had great moments on offense. There were, however, a few things close to the end of the game that we could have improved on to finish stronger. We are going to continue to improve through the end of the season.”

Sophomore forward Jordi Willden scored seven points for the Badgers and grabbed three boards.  “I thought we played better in this game than we had in a long time,” says Willden. “Things are starting to click; even though we lost it was a big step for us.”

“Our team defense was excellent against Salt Lake Community College,” says Head Coach Natalie Visger. “We had a hard time scoring at critical moments, but I feel like our team is playing some of its best basketball. What really hurt us was the amount of free throws Salt Lake shot compared to us. We will clean that up and work on getting ourselves some more foul shots.” Snow College shot 23 free throws compared to SLCC's 37.

The Badgers will host their last two games of the season this week. On Thursday they will host North Idaho College (9-1, and ranked No. 5 in the nation) in the National Breast Cancer Awareness game. All fans are encouraged to wear pink to Thursday's game. On Saturday the Badgers will host their final home game of the season facing the College of Southern Idaho. Both games will be played before the men's games with the women tipping off at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday and 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
