Box Score SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (January 21, 2017) — Despite holding a seven-point lead in the second half, the Snow College women's basketball team came up just short to conference leading and seventh-ranked Salt Lake Community College Saturday afternoon, 56-50.

The two teams were in a defensive battle during the first half as each team exchanged stops and defensive stands. A highlight of the first half happened with 1:25 left in the first quarter. Kayla Hugie stole the ball from a Bruins inbound pass and hit a three-pointer to put the Lady Badgers ahead by three points.  As the Bruins passed the ball in on the ensuing possession, Hugie stole the ball again, passed it off to Harley Hansen who layed it in to put Snow up by five.  The Badgers and Bruins continued to exchange scores and stops throughout the remainder of the first half. SLCC took a two-point lead to the locker room at halftime.

The two teams stayed deadlocked throughout the second half. In the fourth quarter, the Snow took the game's largest lead as they went up by seven with 2:50 left in the game. The Lady Bruins promptly went on an 12-0 run to take a 5-point lead going into the final minute of the game. The Badgers scored fast but Salt Lake did just enough to hold off Snow College moving the Badgers to 8-9 on the season.

Hugie led the Lady Badgers with 14 points including four three-pointers while Lindsay Cook added eight points. Siki Suguturaga won the battle of the boards with a game-high eight rebounds.

Snow College will next head to Price, Utah to take on Utah State-Eastern on January 26, 2017 at 5:30pm.
