Siki Suguturaga nailed a last-second shot as time expired to give the Snow College women's basketball team a 66-65 victory over Utah State-Eastern on Thursday. With the win, the Lady Badgers improve 9-9 on the season, including a mark of 4-3 in region play.
The Lady Badgers and Golden Eagles started the game exchanging shots and good defense until the Badgers went on a 9-2 run with five minutes left in the first quarter to put them up by 8. USU-E found a rhythm for themselves, outscoring the Lady Badgers in the second quarter 17-6 and going into halftime with the score being 28-32.
The Lady Badgers fought back in the second half and kept the Golden Eagles on their toes throughout the remainder of the game. Then with one second remaining on the game clock, Snow's
Madison Mooring found Suguturaga on the in-bounds pass for a quick fade-a-way jump shot to give Snow the one-point victory.
Mooring led the team with 15 points, followed by
Harley Hansen and Suguturaga who chipped in 11 each. Snow College will be back in Ephraim to take on Colorado Northwestern on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at 3pm.
