Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (March 4, 2017) – Cold shooting in the first half and an unhealthy dose of turnovers proved costly for the Snow College women's basketball team in the championship game of the Region 18 tournament as No. 4 Salt Lake CC cruised to a 67-40 victory. After knocking off No. 2 seed Southern Idaho on Friday and advancing to the championship game, Snow's Harley Hansen and Katie Anderson were both named to the All-Tournament team.
 
From the opening tip to the final buzzer, the No. 4 Lady Bruins never trailed in the game. Things started to go south for the Lady Badgers near the end of the first quarter. Snow College was unable to find the basket for a stretch of over 10 minutes between the first and second quarters that allowed the Lady Bruins to go on a 18-0 run and take a commanding lead. The 18 point run was fueled by 17 points off 19 Snow College turnovers. Salt Lake held a 23-point lead at the half. In the first two quarters, Snow shot just 21 percent, connecting on just 4-of-19 from the field.
 
The second half didn't start out much better, with SLCC hitting its first three shots to take a 30-point lead before Tavia Ah'Quin picked up two points for the Lady Badgers. The Lady Bruins built a 31-point lead in the third quarter and extended that to 32 points in the fourth quarter. The Lady Badgers connected on a couple three-pointers and made free throws down the stretch, but it was not nearly enough to overcome the commanding Salt Lake lead. Hansen led the Lady Badgers with 10 points, followed by Jazmin Chavez who registered six points.
 
The Lady Badgers finished the season with an overall record of 15-14. Earlier in the day, Snow College head coach Mike Russell and his wife celebrated the birth of their third child, Hazel Rae Russell. She was born at a hospital near the team hotel at 6:32 a.m. Saturday morning.
