Box Score EPHRAIM, Utah [January 18, 2018] -- Sophomore guard Harley Hansen drained a pair of free throws with :04 remaining to ice the victory and lead Snow College to a 62-61 Scenic West Athletic Conference victory over Utah State Eastern on Thursday.
Hansen led the Lady Badgers with 13 points, including nine of those points in the second half. Hansen also added four assists, three steals, and three rebounds. Madison Mooring added eight points and four rebounds, while four other players had six points each, including Megan Carr, Jazmin Chavez, Lourdes Gonzalez and Savannah Domgaard. Gonzalez led the team with six rebounds.
Snow College led this game from the opening tip and took an 11-point lead on Mooring's jumper with 5:50 remaining in the third quarter. USU Eastern continued to chip away at that lead through the second half, knotting the score up at 55-55 with 3:33 remaining in the game on Alyssa Crumley's free throw. Snow regained the lead and held on through the remainder of the fourth quarter when Hansen connected on a pair of free throws with just four seconds remaining to give Snow a 62-58 lead. However, the Eagles' Madison Loftus drained a second straight three-pointer as the clock expired to cut the Lady Badgers' margin of victory to just one point.
With the win, Snow College improves to 15-5 on the season and 2-1 in league play. Utah State Eastern falls to 14-6 and 1-2 in SWAC play. The Lady Badgers will be in action again this Saturday, January 20, traveling to Colorado Northwestern Community College to take on the Spartans. Tip off will be at 5:30 p.m.
