Lady Badgers Upset No. 7 Salt Lake CC

Box Score SALT LAKE CITY (February 10, 2018) – They say the third time is a charm. After falling twice earlier this season to nationally ranked Salt Lake Community College, the Snow College women's basketball team put together the complete team performance on Saturday to upset the No. 7 Lady Bruins in Salt Lake, 59-51. With the victory, the Lady Badgers claim their 20th win of the season and move into a tie with SLCC for the lead in the Scenic West Athletic Conference. Both teams have three games remaining in the regular season.

"Tonight was a signature win for our program," said Snow College head coach Mike Russell. "We learned a lot about ourselves in the two previous Salt Lake games where we came up short and we did our best to address certain areas of our performance that needed fixing.  Credit to our players for learning from their setbacks and for following our game plan (tonight) to near perfection."

Holding a 37-36 lead entering the final quarter, the Lady Badgers outscored Salt Lake CC, 22-15, in the final quarter to capture the important road victory. Megan Carr posted a game-high 23 points in the win, shooting 7-for-9 from the field. Carr was also credited with eight rebounds, along with Harley Hansen who picked up eight rebounds on the night. Madison Mooring finished with 10 points for the Lady Badgers.

Hansen was also given the assignment to guard first-team All-American Tia Hay. Hansen held Hay to just 13 points on 5-of-12 shooting, which is 10 points under her average. Hansen's performance comes on the heels of Thursday's win over Utah State Eastern when Hansen held USUE's All-American Madison Loftus to just nine points.

"Tonight's win was a total team effort and we feel like everyone contributed in some way," Russell said.

The Badgers, now 20-6 on the season, will next travel to Rangely, Colo., to take on Colorado Northwestern on Thursday, Feb. 15. Game time is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. (MT).
