LAST TIME OUT

The Snow College women's basketball team suffered a tough 65-59 defeat against the No. 7 College of Southern Idaho Thursday in Twin Falls.

Snow College came into the matchup having had a nearly three-week hiatus since its last game.  The Badgers were originally scheduled to play a trio of opponents at the Lady Jets Holiday Classic in Americus, Georgia including No. 4 South Georgia Tech, No. 1 Eastern Florida, and Georgia Highlands, but those games were canceled.

Snow College was victorious in its most recent game against Colorado Northwestern Community College.  The Badgers defeated the Spartans 75-52 Dec. 16 in Ephraim.

It was a quick start for the Badgers that saw them jump out to a 12-5 lead in the first quarter.  They would eventually extend the lead out to as many as eight points before the Golden Eagles went on a massive run to take control.  CSI went on an extended 29-5 run that saw it take a 16-point lead.  The Golden Eagles would eventually take a 42-28 lead into the halftime break.

Snow College trailed by as many as 17 points in the third quarter but used a 10-0 run to get back within seven.  The Badgers outscored the Golden Eagles in the third quarter and went into the fourth quarter trailing 54-44.

The Badgers cut the lead to six points within the first two and a half minutes of the fourth quarter.  CSI extended the lead back to 12 points over the next few minutes and led 61-49 with five minutes to play.  Snow College's comeback attempt came up just short as it rallied to get within six points but eventually lost 65-59.

The Badgers outscored the Golden Eagles in the first, third and fourth quarters, but they were outscored 25-7 in the second quarter which proved to be their downfall.  Snow College shot a better field goal percentage and 3-point percentage than the Golden Eagles but turned the ball over 16 times to the Golden Eagles' 10.

Samiana Suguturaga led the Badgers in scoring for the 10th time this season while also recording her second double-double of the year finishing with 18 points and 10 rebounds.  Marika Collins was the other Badger in double figures with 10 points, five rebounds, and three assists.
