The Snow College women's wrestling team had 18 placers in the Embry-Riddle Mile High Open in Prescott, AZ over the weekend. The Badgers had three 1
st place finishers and six runners-up, improving from last year at the same event where they had just one 1
st-place finisher.

st-place finishers included
Jennifer Thomas, who defeated Kimberly Navarette of Doane College, in the 101 division.
Rachel Jones also finished atop the 109-pound division after defeating Karina Vang of Doane College via fall in just 41 seconds. Abigal Trayhorn defeated teammate
Corrie Williams in the 143 division to finish in 1st place.
The Badgers also had six 2
nd-place finishers including Williams in the 143-pound division.
Samantha Memmott in the 116-pound division, Valery Ethington in the 123-pound division, Isabelle Clements in the 136-pound division,
Angella Van Valkenburg in the 155-pound division, and
Audrey Gribble in the 191-pound division all took second place in the tournament.
Memmott was winning the championship match by 8 points before being pinned, bumping her down to 2
nd place. Similarly, Gribble was also winning her match but was also pinned to finish in 2
nd.
Ana Valentina Martinez Jimenez won four consecutive matches, three of which in 10-0 technical falls, to claim third place.
Rachel Johnson in the 170-pound division and
Tori Poulson in the 191-pound division also finished in third.
Sarah Tunnell won three matches in the 130-pound division before falling in the 3
rd-place match to finish in fourth.
Lily Polvado also took fourth place in the 143-pound division.
Leilani Milla was defeated in her first two matches in the 101 division but recovered to claim victory via fall in 4:08 to claim the 5
th-place spot.
Hallie Carter defeated Valeria Engfui Pantoja via fall in just 27 seconds in the 143-pound division to claim fifth place.
Melbourne Earl in the 109-pound division and
Teagan Moss in the 155-pound division both finished in sixth place.
The Badgers improved greatly from the same event compared to a year ago. Snow College had 12 placers at the Embry-Riddle Mile High Open last season and just three wrestlers finish inside the top three compared to 12 finish on the proverbial podium this season.
Snow College will head to the Women's West Coast Tournament of Champions Friday, December 15 and 16 in Roseville, California. They will face a trio of opponents in individual duals before participating in the open event the following day. For more information, please visit snowbadgers.com.
