Women's Wrestling Earns 4th at NJCAA Coaches Association Dual

This weekend, Snow College women's wrestling competed in the Snow College Multi Friday and finished fourth at the 3rd annual NJCAA Women's Coaches Association Dual Saturday. 

The Badgers earned a victory over Trinidad State, 49-5, then went undefeated in pool play on Saturday with wins over Hawkeye Community College, 32-16, and Northern Oklahoma College, 38-15.

Advancing to bracket play, Snow College defeated Colby Community College, 39-11, before falling to Iowa Central Community College, 38-14, who went on to win the tournament over Southeast Nebraska.

The Badgers then dropped the third-place match to Umpqua Community College, 29-24. Snow College finished the weekend in fourth place overall and now holds a 6-8 overall record.

Entering the weekend, Snow was coming off a 32-20 victory over Treasure Valley Community College last Wednesday.

Friday, the Badgers faced Trinidad and earned a dominant 49-5 win. Alicia Hansen won by fall in 2:06, while Leticia Garcia followed with a fall in 2:28. Kaylee Young picked up a victory via technical fall, 10-0, in 1:14. Dalilah Aguayo also earned a technical fall win, winning 17-7 in 4:24. Maeli Howard added another technical fall win, 19-8, in 3:19. Six additional victories came by forfeit.

Saturday, Snow competed in the NJCAA Women's Coaches Association Dual, beginning with pool play, where they earned three total victories on the day.

The Badgers opened pool competition with a win over HawkeyeAll five victories came by technical fall, highlighted by Isabelle Morgan's 10-0 win in just 33 seconds and Inaily Samaniego's 10-0 technical fall in 39 seconds. Lilly Lake earned a 14-6 sudden victory win in the first round.

The Badgers then closed out pool play with a win over Northern. Kathryn Christensen won by fall in 5:04, followed by Chloe Colvin with a fall in 5:28. Young earned a fall in 1:04, Lake won by fall in 3:00, Samaniego secured a 10-0 technical fall in 1:36, and Morgan added another 10-0 technical fall in 2:05.

With the pool wins, Snow College advanced to the gold bracket, where they faced Colby. Hansen won by fall in just 54 seconds, Brighton Wise followed with a fall in 1:46, and Christensen earned a 12-2 technical fall at 1:18. Emily Pasillas won by decision, 10-8. Samaniego picked up a 12-0 technical fall in 44 seconds, Morgan earned a 10-0 technical fall in 1:53, and Howard added a 10-0 technical fall in one minute.

In the next matchup, Snow College fell to Iowa Central Community College. Young earned a win by fall at 1:54, while Howard added a decision victory, 17-12.

The Badgers then competed in the third-place match, where they fell to Umpqua Community College. Young once again earned a technical fall victory, 10-0, at 1:44, marking her fourth win of the weekend. Howard recorded a win by fall in 5:52 also marking her fourth win as well. Lastly, Wise earned a fall in 1:56.
