The Snow College women's wrestling team collected a pair of victories against No. 2 Umpqua Community College and No. 7 Southwestern Oregon Community College over the weekend.
The Badgers were coming off a three-week hiatus following a victory against Umpqua Dec. 15 and a strong showing at the Women's West Coast Tournament of Champions Dec. 16. They entered this weekend with an overall record of 2-3 in duals.
The Badgers earned victories via forfeit in three of their first four matches.
Samantha Memmott earned a victory via decision during that stretch as the Badgers jumped out to an 18-0 lead. The Riverhawks quickly closed the gap and won the next three bouts.
Angella Van Valkenburg earned a convincing win in the 155-pound division via technical fall.
Hannah Broderick secured things for the Badgers as she eked out a 9-8 victory in the 191. The Badgers defeated the Riverhawks 26-25 for the second time this season.
Following the victory, the Badgers took on Southwestern Oregon and secured a 40-14 victory.
Samantha Memmott earned a victory via fall in 90 seconds in the 116-pound division. Van Valkenburg made quick work of her opponent in the 155 as she won via fall in just 40 seconds.
Audrey Gribble secured the victory for the Badgers as she pinned her opponent in 2:25 to earn five points for the team. Snow College would go on to win 40-14 to collect their fourth victory of the season.
The Badgers will now head to Poteau, Oklahoma to participate in the NJCAA Coaches Association Duals Jan. 26 and 27. For additional information, visit snowbadgers.com.
