The Snow College women's wrestling team had five placers at the Grand View Open Saturday in Des Moines, Iowa before wrapping up the regular season with a 47-6 victory against Trinidad State College Monday in Richfield.

The Badgers entered the weekend following a strong performance at the NJCAA Coaches Association Duals where they collected three victories, all against ranked teams. Â

Sarah Trunnell was the highest placer for the Badgers as she finished in second place in the 130-pound division.  She won two matches via fall and another via technical fall to enter the championship bout where she finished as the runner-up.

Jennifer Thomas claimed third place in the 101-pound division.  She won her first match via decision before dropping the quarterfinal matchup.  She proceeded to win each of her next four bouts, three of which by fall to finish on the proverbial podium.

Samantha Memmott and Valentina Martinez each finished in fourth place.  Memmott breezed through each of her first three matches but dropped the semifinal bout in the 116-pound division.  She earned a victory via fall          in the consolation semifinal but suffered a loss in the third-place match to earn fourth place.

In the 123-pound division, Martinez won her first match but dropped to the consolation bracket following a loss.  She went on to win four consecutive matches before dropping the third-place bout to finish in fourth.

Melbourne Earl finished in fifth place in the 109-pound division.  She earned a victory via technical fall in her opening bout but lost in the quarterfinal.  She responded to win back-to-back matchups before losing her final match to finish in fifth place.

Following the Grand View Open, Snow College wrapped up its regular season with a home match against TSC Monday. Â
Rachel Jones and
Hallie Carter each earned five points for the team as they earned victories via fall. Â

Trunnell, Angela Van Valkenburg, and
Audrey Gribble all won their matches via technical fall as the Badgers went on to win 47-6.  With the victory, the Badgers culminate the regular season with an 8-4 overall record.
