The Snow College men's wrestling team finished in 18
th place at the NJCAA National Championship Tournament over the weekend in Council Bluffs, Iowa. The top-20 finish improves on last season's 22
nd-place result.
Rylee Creasey highlighted the weekend for the Badgers as he finished in fourth place in the 285-pound heavyweight division and was named an All-American. Creasey was the lone All-American awardee for the Badgers.
Creasey, a freshman from Morgan, Utah, entered the 285-pound division as a four seed following a season that saw him go 20-8 during the 2023-24 campaign. Creasey opened up the tournament with a victory over Riley Butt of Northeastern Junior College via fall in just 2:15.
Creasey moved on to the round of 16 where he earned another victory via fall over Cayden Winter of Pratt Community College in just 1:36. Creasey fell to the consolation bracket following a loss in the quarterfinal bout.
After falling into the consolation bracket, Creasey won three consecutive matches, two by decision and the other via fall, to enter the 3
rd-place matchup. He suffered a 5-1 defeat via decision against the top-seeded Dmarian Lopez of Western Wyoming Community College to finish in fourth place.
Chandler Thompson claimed an eighth-place finish in the 184-pound division. He began the tournament with a pair of victories by decision but was defeated by the No. 2 seed in the quarterfinal match.
He dropped to the consolation bracket and earned a victory via major decision over Nathan Andrina of Southwestern Michigan College before being defeated in the following round and falling to the seventh-place bout. He suffered a 7-4 loss via decision to finish in eighth place.
The Badgers finished the regular season with an 18-8 overall record and will now prepare for another full season next winter.
