GAME NOTES: The Snow College women's basketball team will begin home conference play Thursday against North Idaho College. Tipoff will be at 5:00 p.m. The Badgers will then host the No. 13 College of Southern Idaho Saturday at 1:00 p.m.. Both games will take place inside the Horne Activity Center in Ephraim.
The Badgers are coming off a 61-46 defeat to Utah State University Eastern in their lone game last week. The Badgers now hold a 12-6 overall record with a 1-2 record in Scenic West Athletic Conference play.
Brooke Pennington (So./Springville, Utah/Springville HS) led the offense for the Badgers with 19 points against the Eagles. Pennington also picked the Eagles pockets three times.
The Badgers are shooting nearly 45 percent from the field, which slots them at 17th in the nation. Snow College is the only Region 18 team in the Top 25 of field goal percentage.
The Badgers are 4-13 historically against the Cardinals after splitting the pair of games last season. Snow College lost by three points in its last outing against NIC Feb 15.
The Cardinals are 1-2 in conference play after defeating Colorado Northwestern Community College 69-43 and dropping to No. 19 Salt Lake Community College 71-61 last week.Â
CSI is 15-3 overall with a 3-0 record to begin conference play. The Golden Eagles are on a current five-game win streak dating back to Dec. 18.Â
The Badgers are 13-35 historically against CSI and are on a 13-game losing streak. The Badgers last win dates back to the 2020-21 season.Â
LAST TIME OUT: The Snow College women's basketball team dropped to its in-state rival Utah State University Eastern 61-46. This drops the Badgers overall record to 12-6 and 1-2 during Scenic West Athletic Conference play.
The Badgers were coming off a split weekend to begin SWAC play. Snow College dropped to No. 19 Salt Lake Community College 84-52. They then defeated Colorado Northwestern Community College 89-53 to go 1-1 in conference play.
Snow College kept the score close at 14-9 at the end of the first quarter. Brooke Pennington (So./Springville, Utah/Springville HS) scored seven of the nine first quarter Badger points.
The Badgers then stalled in the second quarter and got outscored 17-5 in the period. Snow College would trail 31-14 entering halftime.
Snow College then turned up the heat in the third quarter and scored 15 points, outscoring their first half total. However the Eagles scored 18 and entered the fourth quarter with a 20-point lead.
The Badgers played their best quarter for the fourth period, outscoring the Eagles 17-12. However, this would not be enough as the Badgers eventually fell 61-46.Â
Pennington was the only Badger to score double figures with 19 points, her 13th double figure game of the season. Four different Badgers all recorded 5 rebounds throughout the game.
