Women's Basketball Travels North to No. 14 CSI, NIC

GAME NOTES: The Snow College women's basketball will head back out on the road and will first go to the No. 14 College of Southern Idaho Thursday at 5:00 p.m. The Badgers will then travel to North Idaho College Saturday at 1:00 p.m.

Snow College is coming off a loss to Utah State University Eastern last Thursday. The Badgers dropped 51-50 after leading for the majority of the matchup. Snow College is now 23-15 against the Eagles historically, but are on a seven-game losing streak.

Iyana Beh (So./Murray, Utah/Murray HS) led all scorers with 15 points as well as grabbing 10 rebounds to record her third double-double of the season.

The Badgers shot 15-17 from the charity stripe last Thursday against USUE. Brooke Pennington (So./Springville, Utah/Springville HS) sank seven free throws, three of which sparked a 9-0 run in the first quarter.

The Badgers are 13-36 all-time against CSI after suffering a 67-51 loss earlier this season. Snow College is also only 4-16 when playing in Twins Falls, Idaho with the last win occurring Jan. 6, 2018.

The Golden Eagles are at the top of the Region 18 standings with an 18-4 record on the season along with a 6-1 conference mark. CSI is coming off a split weekend after losing to No. 18 Salt Lake Community College 56-53. They then defeated Colorado Northwestern Community College 67-46.

Following the matchup, The Badgers will travel to NIC, who are 13-8 on the season and hold a 5-2 conference record. Snow College is 4-14 against the Cardinals historically and haven't defeated them since Jan. 10, 2024.

The Cardinals are on a current four-game win streak after defeating Snow College (72-57), USUE (65-61), CNCC (77-49), and SLCC (58-54). NIC will host USUE prior to playing the Badgers.

LAST TIME OUT: The Snow College women's basketball team dropped a heartbreaker to Utah State University Eastern Thursday night in Ephraim. The Badgers lost 51-50 in the rivalry rematch against the Eagles. Snow College now drops to 12-9 overall and 1-5 in conference play.

The Badgers were coming off a two-loss weekend to North Idaho College (72-57) and then No. 13 College of Southern Idaho (67-51). Snow College is now on a four-game losing streak – their longest of the season.

The Eagles had the lead of 5-4 in the first quarter when Brooke Pennington (So./Springville, Utah/Springville HS) sank three free throws. This started a 9-0 run for the Badgers to go up 13-5. Snow College maintained the lead and entered the second quarter leading 15-8.

The Badgers kept the Eagles at arm's length midway through the second quarter with a 22-14 lead before both teams were held scoreless of a stretch of more than four minutes. The Badgers entered halftime leading 24-19. Iyana Beh (So./Murray, Utah/Murray HS) netted 12 points in the first half for the Badgers.

The Eagles went on a 14-8 run to start the second half to push the score 33-32 in favor of USUE. This was the Eagles first lead of the game since 7:13 left in the first when they were up 5-4. Snow College fired back with a 6-0 run to regain the lead at 38-33.

The Badgers maintained a two possession lead until 3:41 left in the game when the Eagles cut the deficit to 46-43. Snow College held onto the lead until USUE tied the game at 50 with 42 seconds left.

The Badgers had a promising look when the Eagles turned the ball over with five seconds left, but committed a turnover themselves and gave USUE two seconds left. The Eagles looked to score and were fouled with less than a second remaining. USUE knocked down one of its two free throws and stole the game 51-50.

Despite the loss, Beh led all scorers with 15 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to record her third career double-double in Snow College colors.

UP NEXT: The Badgers will then return home briefly to host CNCC Feb. 6. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. inside the Horne Activity Center in Ephraim. For video streaming and live stat information, visit snowbadgers.com.
