GAME NOTES:
- The Snow College women's basketball team will play its final home games of the 2025-2026 season against Salt Lake Community College Thursday at 5:00 p.m. and Colorado Northwestern Community College Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
- The Badgers are coming off the start of their final home stretch against Utah State University Eastern last week, where they fell to the Eagles 73-66.
- The Badgers are 15-11 overall and 3-8 in conference play. They are in fifth place in the Scenic West Athletic Conference and are just outside the top four teams, which qualify for the Region 18 Tournament. They are 1.5 games back from North Idaho College with four games left to play, including a matchup against NIC.
- The Badgers lead the SWAC in assists per game at 15.8 and are 85-19 under Head Coach Zu Grinsell when they achieve this feat.
- Snow College ranks second in the SWAC in steals at 10.6 per game and 13.9 in conference play. The Badgers are 11-2 this season when they produce more steals than their opponents and 58-17 under Grinsell.
- The Badgers also commit the second-most turnovers per game at 17.7 and have a turnover margin of 0.4 fewer turnovers than their opponents. They have only generated more steals than their conference opponents in three games. Under Grinsell, they are 30-54 when they commit more turnovers.
- SLCC holds a 15-8 record and an 8-4 conference record. The Bruins sit in third place in the SWAC behind USUE and No. 7 College of Southern Idaho.
- The Badgers trail in the all-time series against SLCC, 35-17. They have lost both of the earlier regular-season matchups against the Bruins, 73-58 and 50-47. The Badgers have an 8-17 home record against SLCC, with the last home win coming last year, 54-52.
- The Spartans are 1-26 on the season and 0-12 in conference play. They have been eliminated from the Region 18 Tournament, with three games remaining against USUE, Snow College, and SLCC.
- The Badgers lead the all-time series 44-2 against CNCC with a 20-0 home record. They won both of the earlier matchups by a combined 42 points. The last time the Badgers fell against the Spartans was in Rangely, 65-64, Feb. 25, 2023.
LAST TIME OUT: The Snow College women's basketball team kicked off its final homestand of the season against Utah State University Eastern. The Badgers fell to the Eagles 73-66.
The Badgers were coming off their penultimate road swing of the year. They fell to Salt Lake Community College 50-47, before they headed to Rangely, Colorado, where the Badgers took down Colorado Northwestern Community College 75-55.
The game opened with USUE getting off to a hot start, outscoring the Badgers 16-6 in the first five minutes. The Badgers would string together an 8-3 run over the remainder of the first quarter, orchestrated by a
Dalana Jakovljevic layup and a
Lala Baldwin 3-pointer.
The second period had the Badgers carry their momentum into the quarter. In the first two minutes, Jakovljevic put back layup off an offensive board before
Sara Aoki got a tough layup and an ensuing and-one to fall, knotting the game at 19. Both sides continued to trade points until USUE went on a 13-point unanswered streak over the middle part of the quarter. The Eagles would carry the momentum to the half up 36-29.
The third quarter saw the Badgers trim the USUE lead to as few as one point at the 5:49 mark on a Hillary Akomistri layup and a pair of free throws a possession later. The Eagles would respond with a 9-2 burst over the next 2:30 to extend their lead back to eight. They would carry that lead into the final stanza up 55-48.
The final period of play saw the Badgers close the gap with a 10-2 run in the middle of the quarter. It kicked off with a Baldwin 3-pointer at 5:43 and was capped by a pair of Aoki free throws followed by a 3-pointer to tie the game at 64 with 2:55 left to play. USUE would finish strong, scoring nine of the final 11 points to win 73-66.
Aoki led the Badgers in scoring with 15 points, closely followed by Jakovljevic with 14, and Baldwin with 12. Akomistri raked in seven rebounds to lead all Badgers with an accompanying six points.
