Badgers Continue Conference play at Home

OPENING KICK: Snow College men's soccer team returns home to play in-state foe, No. 5  Salt Lake Community College Thursday at 3:30 p.m. Snow College will then face No. 12 Utah State Eastern University Saturday, also at 3:30.

 

The Badgers are coming off their first conference game, an 8-0 win against Colorado Northwestern Community College. 

 

KNOWING YOUR OPPONENT: SLCC is currently No. 5 in the NJCAA Division I Men's Soccer Poll. SLCC is coming off of a 2-2 draw with USUE. SLCC scored a late goal against USUE to keep its undefeated season alive. 

 

SLCC is currently 3-0-1 with wins against Arizona Western College  (3-0) and Casper College (5-0). They also earned a 4-0 victory against Northwest College.

 

SLCC and Snow College have faced each other 31 times with the Bruins leading the series 8-20-3, with SLCC having won the last two meetings. SLCC is averaging 3.5 goals per game and have allowed just two goals all season.

 

USUE is 2-1-2, and 1-0-1 against common opponents as the Badgers this season. The Eagles beat Mohave Community College 1-0 then tied Casper 1-1.

 

Snow College and USUE have faced each other 25 times with the Badgers winning the series 17-8. Snow College is currently on a five game winning streak against the Eagles With a win on Saturday the Badgers will improve their winning streak to 6 against the Eagles. The Eagles are scoring an average of 2.4 goals per game, but only allowing 1.2 goals per game.

 

LAST TIME OUT: The Snow College men's soccer team traveled to Rangely, Colorado to play Colorado Northwestern Community College last Saturday. The Badgers defeated CNCC 8-0 to kick off Scenic West Athletic Conference games.

 

The game started off slow for both teams not scoring in the first 30 minutes, shortly after Snow College found the first goal of the game in the 31st minute, Isaac Stanley found Josh Kilsby for the goal. In the 41st minute, the Badgers found the net right before half time with Cody Adams passing to Stanley for the goal, bringing the score to 2-0.

 

At half time the Badgers led CNCC in shots 12-0, including a 7-0 advantage on shots on target. The second half looked a lot like the first, the only difference was Snow College found the back of the six more times.

 

The Badgers received a penalty kick in the 52nd, Kade Davis found the back of the net putting the score 3-0. In the 60th, Josh Kilsby found Felix Biederman to take a 4-0 lead. Then Biederman found the back of the net again in the 62nd, receiving a pass from Jorge Beltran, and the Badgers led 5-0. 

 

Gabe Newman scored a natural hat trick, scoring in the 75th with a pass from Liam Kilbane, then scoring again off a penalty kick in the 76th.

 

Newman recorded the Badgers' final goal of the game came in the 88th, with a strike assisted by Alex Guillory. The Badgers led CNCC in shots 24-1, while not surrendering a single shot on goal.

 

NEXT UP: Next week Snow College will continue SWAC play on the road. The Badgers will travel to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho Thursday, September 17 at 3:30 p.m MST, to face North Idaho College. Then on Saturday, September 19 at 3:30 p.m. MST, the Badgers will be in Kennewick, Washington facing Pacific Northwest Christian College.

 

NIC is currently ranked 17th in the nation and own an undefeated 5-0-1 record of NIC opened up SWAC play last weekend, defeating PNCC 8-0. NIC will face the College of Southern Idaho Thursday. Saturday, NIC will play Truckee Meadows Community College.

 

PNCC, which is 0-4 overall, will face TMCC Thursday, then will finish the weekend facing CSI. For video streaming and live stats information, visit snowbadgers.com.
