Men's Wrestling Defeats Wayland Baptist, Dominates Ottawa University

The Snow College men's wrestling team earned a pair of victories against Wayland Baptist University and Ottawa University (Arizona) at the Wartburg Duals Sunday in Las Vegas, Nevada.
 
Snow College also took on host school Wartburg College in two separate duals but was defeated on both occasions.
 
The Badgers defeated WBU 33-16 in round two of the duals.  Six Badgers won their individual bouts including Xavier Perez who defeated Gavin Armijo via decision, 4-3.  Rhett Miner won his match in the 157-pound division via fall in just under two and a half minutes. 
 
Two other Badgers won via fall including Hayes Dalton in the 174-pound division.  He was victorious in 2:10 while Christian Slack pinned Brandon Chapin in 1:25.  Nick Ware and Kaden Kirk were also victorious in their matchups via forfeits.
 
The Badgers turned around to face OUAZ and picked up a convincing 46-12 victory.  Six of the Badger's eight wins during the dual came via fall.  The other two came via major decision and a forfeit.
 
Kasey Curtis was among the match winners in the 133-pound division.  He won via fall in just under four minutes.  Jaxon Johnson pinned Emanual Palacios in 1:09.  Miner was once again victorious as he pinned James Roan in 3:44.
 
Luke Peltier earned a victory over Noah Stockdale in a match that entered the third round, but Peltier eventually pinned Stockdale in 6:20.  Zach Johnson was the quickest to win his match as he won via fall in 53 seconds.  Slack was the other Badger to win his bout via fall as he defeated Anthony Taylor in 4:49.
 
Dalton earned a convincing victory against Ryan Nardozzi via major decision 11-0 while Ware once again earned a victory via forfeit.  In all, the Badgers only lost two bouts against the Spirit en route to a dominant 46-12 victory.
 
Snow College will be on a three-week hiatus over the winter break but will be back in action at the Snow College Open Jan. 7 in Richfield.  For additional information, visit snowbadgers.com.
